MISSING INFORMATION AND MYSTERIES - CAN YOU SOLVE THEM?
WHAT DID THE 1853 BUILDING LOOK LIKE? The first building on the site included the octagonal turrets and stone spires. But the side walls were not so far east and west as they are in the enlarged building we see today. I haven’t found any pictures, drawings or paintings of the 1853 church - if you find one please let me know.
WHAT WERE THE WEATHERVANES LIKE? Church minutes tantalise us with the fact that the original weathervanes from atop the original stone spires were removed due to their being unsafe and having resulted in damage to the spire tops in a great storm in 1888. What kind of weathervanes do you put on a chapel? Can anyone find the photo or drawing to solve this one?
TITLED VICTORIAN CHURCH MEMBERS - WHO WERE THEY? The church members list from the minutes book, and the early pew books, confirm some of the well known Victorian famous members. But others have not been so easy to trace - Who is the Countess de Manin, or Lady Stockenstrum; and is Major Holland linked to Holland House or not?
