Use our building

We love sharing our beautiful building with our local community and its community activities. If you run a community class, a community group, local charity, support group or are a local resident, we have a high-quality space available for you.

We have a number of regular activities throughout the week, but the building can be used outside of these times subject to availability.

  • Regular Bookings

    We host a wide range of classes and groups, for both adults and children. If you’re interested in making a regular booking with us please review the Suitable Use Policy to check that our spaces are appropriate for what you have in mind. Then e-mail us to enquire about availability using the link below. Please include your name, some information about your activity or event and the days and times you’re interested in.

  • Children’s Parties

    NOW OPEN FOR BOOKINGS!

    We are now open for bookings for parties taking place from 23rd September 2023 onwards.

    We offer party slots in our Main Hall Suite on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons during term times. The space is suitable for parties having up to 40 children. To check availability and discuss a booking please Contact us using the request form below.

    Please review the Suitable Use Policy to ensure our spaces are appropriate for your activity.

    We are a dry hire venue but do offer tables and chairs. See our Main Hall Information sheet for more information.

  • Event & Function Hire

    We welcome small events including weddings, funerals, and dedication of children, family events, reunions, lectures and discussions, charity events, community meetings, auditions, music, film, dance and drama performances.

What’s On

There’s a wide range of community activities that take place at The Grove throughout the week or on a regular basis. Currently, we can only host small community or family weekday events. These events are fixed bookings, but there may be availability for your event so get in touch.

  • If you’re interested in making a regular booking with us please review our Suitable Use Policy to ensure our venue is appropriate for what you have in mind. If you’re at all unsure, please don’t hesitate to contact us for assistance!

  • Yes we do. We have children’s party slots available on Friday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Please the “REQUEST A BOOKING” link above to make an enquiry.

  • We support charitable events, so can sometimes offer reduced rates to local charities and support groups, or to those in the local community who wish to run an event to raise money for their favourite charity. Our team is currently small, so our venue is currently only available for smaller events. If you have a fund-raising idea and think we could help, please get in touch.

  • For dimensions of all our rooms, including capacity, sound limits, features and restrictions, please see our information sheet.

  • The income generated from hall hires helps maintain the building and supports the work of the church in the community.

  • We are a dry hire venue. This means we hire out our halls but generally do not provide services. We do have adult’s and children’s tables, chairs. We also have small mobile PA systems that can be used by customers. When using amplified sound please be aware that we have upstairs residential neighbours. We therefore ask that you work within the sound restrictions provided. See the info sheet for all details.

  • Our main hall includes a built-in PA system and also has a built-in projector and theatre lighting. This is available to hire at an additional cost along with a technician to operate them whose time is also charged for. Please note that due to reduced staff team we are not currently offering evening or weekend events. If you have plans for a smaller weekday event you would like to run, please contact us to find out if we have availability.

  • We do not provide any food or drink catering for hires, but the main hall suite includes use of the kitchen by prior arrangement. You are welcome to hire external caterers or to do your own catering.

    The kitchen is suitable as a base for function catering; it has two industrial ovens, 8 gas hobs, microwave and instant hot water. Fridge and freezers space can be made accessible upon arrangement.

  • Alcoholic drinks can be served at your event. If you wish to sell alcohol at your event you will need to obtain a TENS (temporary event) licence from Westminster Council. This must be provided to WGC at least 2 weeks in advance of your event. There are no corkage or bar charges. We are unable to provide glassware for functions and events so please bear this in mind when planning your hire.

  • You are welcome to decorate the halls provided that the decorations are put up and removed within the booking period and that no damage is done to surfaces. Please remove all tape, etc. as part of your clean up. No changes are permitted to the structure, electrical services, fittings or existing decorations of the space.

  • Yes. Your booking time is inclusive of all setting up and clearing away so please plan for this when arranging your hire time. The church does not offer any cleaning services for bookings.

    Brushes and mops are made available to you and a vacuum cleaner is available

    If you spill anything in the main hall please clean it up straight away with paper towels or ask for a mop at reception. The floor is vulnerable to damage and staining by spills.

  • No sports/ballgame activities can take place in the church due to safety issues and our halls not being suitable or insured for such activities. Exercise classes are welcome, provided that no outdoor footwear is used in the spaces and activities should not be high impact (sprinting, high knee jumping).

  • Please contact us to ask about any formal events like weddings, baptisms, child dedications, funerals or memorials. Chris our church minister will get back to you in the first instance and then we’ll put you in touch with our venue team who will go through the practical arrangements with you.

    Wedding info

    In terms of weddings we are unable to hold reception events beyond 6:00pm because of staff availability.

    Our church is a registered venue for Christian marriage ceremonies and our church ministers can legally marry Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea residents with a registrar present to issue the marriage certificate.

    If you wish to be married at the church by your own minister, or if you live outside of the church area, the agreement of your local registrars and Westminster registrars must be obtained. For further wedding information please get in touch.

    Baptism info

    As a Baptist congregation we practise baptism for adults and children old enough to make their own decision about faith. For babies and younger children, we celebrate their arrival in the community with a service of dedication. For further information get in touch.

  • Our preferred method is payment for Children’s parties is by card or cash - please contact the Reception Team to make paymen.
