Lent

Join us on Instagram for daily lent reflections

Lent is a period of 40 days leading up to Easter, during which many Christians reflect on the teachings and life of Jesus, his death, and his resurrection from the dead.

The 40-day period is called Lent after an old English word meaning 'lengthen'.

This is because the Lent period happens at the time of year when the daylight hours lengthen – Light returns to the world as we approach Spring, it is a time of light, life and new beginnings.

It is a time of reflection, of coming into life and light.

Of putting days of darkness behind us,

Of turning to face the light of life,

Of asking for forgiveness, and preparing to celebrate at Easter the good news,

that Jesus, by his death and resurrection, has made a way for us out of death and darkness and now offers us hope, light and light as we join him in the life he offers.

We meet together every Friday to pray

Bible

Bible Group

The Bible is amazing: it reveals God’s remarkable plan for humanity and the earth itself. It does this through stories of people’s lives and God’s interaction with them, and uses histories, poetry and letters.

Its wisdom and advice shows us how we can live really well as individuals and as a community. Which is why we love to read it and learn more about it together!
