Opening Evening: 19th September 6.30 - 9.30pm at the Grove
Anna Walsh is a British artist and designer based in London, exploring the relationship between humans and the natural world. Growing up in both London and Worcestershire, she developed a deep connection with nature and animals, which feature prominently in her work. Her pieces often combine a playful urban twist with a humorous edge. After studying at Camberwell College of Arts in 2000, she settled in South East London.
Fiction, hearsay, and that which is factual, interest her as well as the intersections in between, as these are often the most interesting and revealing about us and our interactions with animals. Her work blends drawing, photography, and digital processes, resulting in screen prints, digital prints, and cyanotypes. She often appropriates vintage natural history illustrations, maps, and charts to convey the themes she explores.
She graduated with an MA in Artists' Books in 2001, co-founded the artist collective Garudio Studiage, and is a member of ArtCan. Her work is held in several private collections, as well as the Tate Gallery Artists’ Book collection and she was shortlisted for the 2024 Derwent Drawing Prize.
