Lydia Yohannes
ውብ ኢየሱስ ፤ Wub Eyesus ፤ Beautiful Jesus
Lydia’s work is born out of a deep reverence and adoration for the most beautiful being in all existence: God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. She is moved to tears by the beauty of His character, which she worships in all its splendour and holiness.
Although He is God, Jesus remains humble in heart (Matthew 11:28–30). While He is the highest, He draws near to the lowly (Psalm 138:6). His forgiveness is complete, holding no record of wrongs (Hebrews 8:12). He is holy (Leviticus 19:2), He is good (Psalm 107:1), and His thoughts toward humanity are never harmful — they are always good, alive, and flowing toward us with purpose and love (Jeremiah 29:11). At His very essence, He is love (John 3:16).
Lydia expresses this divine beauty through the image of an almond blossom, a flower rich with biblical symbolism. These blossoms appear in the Bible, featured on the golden lampstand within the Temple, inside the Holy of Holies (Exodus 25:33). Her artistic expression is the outcome of intimate worship — a visual response to her time spent adoring and contemplating the glorious grandeur of the Lord (Psalm 27:4).
ማለዳ ማለዳ ምሕረቱ አዲስ ነወ ፤ Every morning, His mercies are new “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22–23).
