Leona Lengyel

For Leona Lengyel, art is the lens through which she perceives and shapes the world around her — a mirror for rediscovering her identity and enriching the communities she engages with. Her creative purpose lies at the intersection of personal storytelling, spirituality, and dialogue with a broader global cultural landscape.

Raised in a family of Hungarian jewellers, Leona was immersed in craftsmanship and the art of narrative through design from an early age. Her move to London in 2009 marked a turning point in her artistic journey. In 2012, she launched Leona Lengyel, a brand featuring hand-painted silk scarves and acrylic paintings. Her work, blending fine art with wearable narratives, was showcased at London Fashion Weekend and distributed across Europe.

Leona’s practice explores the healing potential of art, particularly in response to conflict. Her Rainbow Collection, inspired by themes of hope, peace, and reconciliation, draws on the rainbow’s spiritual symbolism across cultures. Informed by her own experience fleeing the Yugoslav Wars as a child, this body of work reflects on the generational impact of war and the ongoing need for reconciliation. The rainbow — rooted in the covenant story of Genesis — becomes a powerful visual symbol of renewal and a call for unity and harmony in a world increasingly marked by division and devastation.

Her art sales will support her continued studies at the Royal College of Art (RCA).
