Paloma Salvatierra

Paloma Salvatierra is a visual artist born in 1988 in the province of Córdoba, Argentina, where she continues to live and develop her artistic practice. She holds a degree in Printmaking and a Higher Teaching Degree in Visual Arts (Printmaking) from the Faculty of Arts at the National University of Córdoba. Her work spans a broad range of visual languages, including woodcut, sustainable printmaking, screen printing, photography, and mixed media. Over the years, she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions.

Paloma’s creative practice lies at the intersection of graphic art, digital illustration, and the written word. For ten years, she developed a project that fused image and text, culminating in Elogio del vacío (In Praise of Emptiness), an illustrated book of poetic prose about the creative process, published in 2023 and presented at the Córdoba Book Fair the same year.

Since 2021, together with her husband, writer Cristian Blasco, Paloma has co-directed the independent publishing house Viajero del Alba (The Dawn Treader), named after the voyage in C.S. Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia. The motif of the journey—both literal and symbolic—is a recurring theme in her work, representing movement, discovery, and the transformation that comes from encounters with the unknown. Among the most enduring symbols in her visual language is the boat: an emblem of the inner and outer voyage of living, changing, and being changed.

Paloma currently teaches at a technical secondary school, where she finds joy in witnessing the moment her students realise that art is more than memorising the names of paintings—it’s a vital tool for creativity, self-expression, and growth in all areas of life.

She is married to Cristian Blasco and is the mother of Leia and Luca, who are a constant source of joy and inspiration. Leia, in particular—a naturally gifted and expressive young artist—reminds her daily of the transformative power of authentic creative expression.

The themes Paloma explores revolve around the creative process, attention to detail, and the spiritual dimension of everyday life. She discovers in the smallest things a space for revelation, where sensitivity and meaning can emerge in quiet, profound ways.
